Decorating On A Budget
Decorating on a Budget is dependent on: 1) Shopping Savvy 2) Using What You Have 3) Resourcefulness & Creativity 4) The amount of your actual budget 5) How well you coordinate furniture, art and accessories OR ‘budget’ is a figure of speech meaning ‘Decorating on the Cheap’ - a regular practice - different levels to each of us. Some first steps may include: * Researching books and magazines, internet decorating sites.
* Looking around, noticing what others are doing that you like
* Browsing through stores - even if you aren't buying, you can get a sense of design elements, art, furnishings, color, etc. SOME GUIDELINES * SORTING - What will you keep? What goes to good will? * Decide and List what you hate from what you love. * Keep as much as you can - make sure it works - get real and brutal about what doesn't. * Budget Shopping The raw reality of a budget is its limitations. Stay within your real projections. * Buying Used can get you better quality than cheaply made new pieces. * Spend as much as you can afford, to get quality pieces like sofas & chairs that take body weight. More is spent in the course of a lifetime on cheap furniture, than quality lasting pieces that hold up.
